Chaplet of St. Maximillian Kolbe

In the new calendar August 14 is the feast day of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a saint often known for his martyrdom while imprisoned in a concentration camp during World War II. Besides his heroic sacrifice St. Maximilian is also known for his devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. To spread devotion to her and to convert sinners, St. Maximilian founded the confraternity of the Militia Immaculata, encouraging people to make an act of consecration to Mary and to wear the Miraculous Medal. He was canonized by John Paul II in 1982.

To pray the Chaplet of St. Maximilian Kolbe, individuals could use the chaplet, which consists of a medal of St. Maximilian, one bead, a medal of the Immaculate Heart, and fourteen beads, or simply count the correct numbers.

+ On the first bead of the chaplet, pray the Memorare:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

+ On each of the next 14 beads pray:
O Mary, Conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee, and for all those who do not have recourse to Thee, especially for the enemies of Holy Mother Church, and all those in most need of Thy mercy. St. Maximilian, pray for us.

+ At the medal of the Immaculate Heart: Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

+ At the medal of St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe: St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us.

God bless!
